Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and commitment to bettering South African Social Security Company (SASSA) companies through an engagement with the agency's senior managers in a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric examinations.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% of the registered pupils while in the education sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates that the investment decision government is earning in the lives of bad and vulnerable children is yielding a good effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.
